As the principal ingredient in BioVivify, natural astaxanthin is grown hygienically and meticulously at the AstaReal® company in the Pacific Northwest. This is another example of aiming for the best ingredient sources for all AIM products. Used in BioVivify, astaxanthin is a perfect antioxidant for healthy hair, nails and skin.
As a unique member of the carotenoid family of yellow, orange and red pigments, astaxanthin is renowned for its exceptional antioxidant activity. For this particular AIM ingredient, it would not be a whimsical statement to say that the words ”astaxanthin” and “antioxidant” are truly made for each other.
Astaxanthin happens to be the most potent antioxidant known on earth. To be more water-origin exact, astaxanthin is an antioxidant found in the microalgae that feeds the vast population of life in fresh and seawater. It was first identified in lobsters back in the 1930s. As a result, these shellfish also contributed to the naming of astaxanthin through the partial use of the lobster’s genus name, Astacus.
Today, astaxanthin is changing lives across the globe, given its antioxidant capacity that protects against free radicals and fights inflammation, especially when compared to other antioxidants. However, this comparison doesn’t diminish the importance of other potent antioxidants, especially vitamin C.
Astaxanthin and Vitamin C
Even though as an antioxidant, astaxanthin has been shown to be 6,000 times stronger than vitamin C, human beings cannot be healthy without this essential vitamin. Furthermore, including vitamin C in the BioVivify formulation actually increases the potency of astaxanthin for producing collagen.
Collagen is the primary building block of bones, connective tissue, ligaments, muscles and skin. Like everything else that decreases with the aging process, reduced collagen production results in sagging, wrinkled skin. On its own, taking astaxanthin increases collagen production by 80 percent. But by including vitamin C with astaxanthin, collagen production increases by 108 percent, one of the main reasons why BioVivify is so skin restoring.
The BioVivify formulation also includes vitamin B7 and the amino acids glycine, L-lysine and L-proline, all of which work synergistically with astaxanthin to make BioVivify such an incredibly effective nutricosmetic.
